1. What are High Barrier Bags?
While the terms “high barrier bag” and “high barrier film” are often used within the industry, we will explain what they specifically mean.

First, as a premise, polyethylene plastic bags, which are used for general packaging, allow a small amount of air to pass through even when sealed.

Although the amount is minute, oxygen and water vapor permeate, causing changes such as oxidation of the contents.

Films that do not allow such minute gases to permeate are called “barrier films.”

“Nylon poly” using nylon and films using oriented polypropylene are chosen as relatively inexpensive barrier films, but even then, gas permeation is not zero.

Bags using films that have reduced gas permeation to “almost zero” are often called “high barrier bags.” A commonly used type is made by laminating aluminum foil with plastic film.

Since aluminum foil is a metal, it reduces gas permeation to “almost zero.”

Recently, since using aluminum foil has the drawback that the contents cannot be seen, transparent high barrier films comparable to aluminum foil have also appeared.

They are used not only for food packaging but also for packaging electronic components and precision equipment that are susceptible to oxidation.

2. Life in the Philippines Diary
In this issue, I will talk about watching movies.

I watched “Suzume,” directed by Makoto Shinkai, who is famous for “Your Name.”, at the movie theater in the SM shopping mall.

It was a hot topic in Japan until recently, and since it was also being shown in the Philippines, I went to see it.

There was a line at the movie ticket counter, but I had already purchased my ticket through the GCash electronic payment app, so I didn’t have to wait in line.

After that, when I tried to enter the theater and showed the staff my ticket on my phone, I was stopped.

Apparently, the staff had to handwrite the ticket number in a notebook, which took time. Cutting-edge yet analog… I don’t quite understand it.

When I entered the theater, there were few people, and I was able to enjoy the movie in a relaxed manner.

However, the air conditioning was very strong and it was cold. Other than the cold, it was the same as the environment in Japan, and I was very satisfied.

If you want to watch Japanese movies, I recommend watching them at SM cinemas!

Although there are movie theaters in every shopping mall, SM cinemas have a large selection of Japanese films.

When I checked the difference in screening schedules with Japan, it was shown in the Philippines about three months later. However, only hit movies are screened.

Japanese anime movies, in particular, seem to be popular and are almost always screened.

It is very convenient to be able to watch Japanese movies in the Philippines.
