1. Applications of Release Film
We would like to introduce the various applications of “release film,” a product we handle.

To broadly categorize them…

Industrial: Retort food packaging, electronic components, automotive parts, home appliances, etc.
Packaging: Food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc.
Functional films: Displays, solar cells, optical films, etc.
These applications vary depending on the type and characteristics of the resin used as the raw material for the release film.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film: Excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and transparency, making it suitable for applications such as retort food packaging and displays.
Polypropylene (PP) film: Excellent abrasion resistance and weather resistance, making it suitable for industrial and packaging applications.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film: Excellent flexibility and processability, making it suitable for applications such as tapes and stickers.
Release film is an important material widely used in various applications.

Further improvements in the performance and expansion of applications for release film are expected in the future.

2. Life in the Philippines Diary
This month, I would like to talk about Christmas in the Philippines.

The Christmas season has arrived once again. Traffic has become even worse in December.

Christmas parties are held everywhere every day, and it takes 2-3 hours to get from Santa Rosa to Makati when there is traffic.

There was news from the government recommending that people buy Christmas presents during the daytime on weekdays, rather than on crowded weekends. Traffic is unavoidable wherever you go during this season.

Amidst all this, our company had a Christmas dinner at the shabu-shabu restaurant “Shaburi” in Makati.

Previously, we used to have it at “Buffet 101” every year. It’s a buffet, so you can eat a lot of food, but there were some complaints that there weren’t many dishes they liked, so we decided to change to “Shaburi” as a test.

“Shaburi” also has a buffet style with a wide variety of side dishes. You can enjoy various dishes such as vegetables for the pot, kimchi, fried chicken, gyudon (beef bowl), curry, and desserts.

Japanese people mainly eat shabu-shabu meat, but our employees mainly ate fried chicken and pasta, so the way of eating was different. Perhaps because of that, they couldn’t eat much meat.

When I asked them, they said it was their first experience, so they were confused about how to eat and ended up eating too many side dishes. They were determined to focus on the meat next time.

On the way back to the office, there was a debate about which dish was the most delicious, and it was a good opportunity to deepen relationships among employees. It seems likely that we will continue to have it at this restaurant next year.

Editorial Postscript
I’m about to return to Japan for a short visit, but it seems like a cold wave is coming soon. I’m scared of the chill I’ll feel the moment I get off the plane.
