1. Poly Bag Prices Soaring!
Crude oil prices are skyrocketing.
As a result, the prices of various resin and plastic products are also rising dramatically.
The prices of poly bags, vinyl bags, nylon poly bags, PET films, and other products that our company handles generally fluctuate in line with the price of raw materials, which, in the case of domestic raw materials in Japan, is largely linked to the domestic naphtha price.
(The “domestic naphtha price” is calculated by the Ministry of Finance and published in trade statistics.)
The trend of domestic naphtha prices in 2021 is as follows:

It is still unclear how far crude oil prices will rise.
Furthermore, depending on the raw material, not only are prices soaring, but in some cases, it is becoming difficult to even obtain them in the first place, making the situation unpredictable.
With the combination of soaring crude oil prices and supply shortages, the situation remains very difficult to navigate, and it is expected that prices of poly bags and vinyl bags will continue to rise.

2. Philippine Life Diary
In this issue, I’d like to share about how I plan to spend Holy Week.
For this year’s Holy Week, as the COVID-19 quarantine measures have eased, I was planning to go to Bohol Island.
However, due to flight schedules not aligning and the short duration of the holiday, I had to give up on the plan. It’s been postponed to another time, but I would like to go there in the near future.
Instead, I will be playing golf. I haven’t really improved in the last six months or so. Of course, I haven’t been practicing, so there’s no way I would improve. I want to go to the driving range and practice diligently.
During Holy Week, commercial facilities such as supermarkets may be closed or have shortened business hours. Please be aware of this.
