1. What are High-Density Polyethylene Bags?
High-density polyethylene bags, or HDPE bags, are made from a type of plastic called high-density polyethylene.

Here are some of their key features:

High Strength: HDPE has superior tensile strength and impact resistance compared to low-density polyethylene (LDPE). This makes HDPE bags less likely to tear even when holding heavy items.

Semi-transparent Appearance: HDPE has a semi-transparent appearance, making it difficult to see the contents inside. This is why it’s commonly used for shopping bags and garbage bags.

Thin and Lightweight: Typical shopping bags made from HDPE film are only about 0.025 mm thick. This is incredibly thin compared to transparent LDPE film, which is generally manufactured at 0.03 mm or thicker.

Despite being thin, HDPE bags are still strong. This makes them suitable for packaging a wide variety of items, not just for shopping bags and garbage bags.

Clothing stores and variety shops often use HDPE bags for customers to carry their purchases. Some stores even use bags with oval-shaped holes or handles.

High Heat Resistance: HDPE has higher heat resistance compared to transparent LDPE bags. This property sometimes leads to their use for “cooking in plastic bags.”
Please note: Most HDPE bags are not sold specifically for cooking purposes. We do not recommend cooking in plastic bags.

2. Life in the Philippines Diary
This time, I’d like to talk about my business trip to China.

This month, I went to China for the first time in my life. It was a series of culture shocks, but the experience was unforgettable.

My first visit was to Shanghai. I was surprised by the number of electric vehicles on the streets. More than half of the cars were electric vehicles. As for motorcycles, almost all of them were electric.

According to the locals, electric vehicles are rapidly increasing in urban areas because subsidies make them cheaper.

Being in a foreign country, I faced some troubles. First, English was rarely understood.

Therefore, translation apps were a great help when ordering at restaurants or buying high-speed train tickets. Although I didn’t understand the replies in Chinese at all, I managed to get by.

I also struggled with payments. Credit cards were rarely accepted, and WeChat Pay and Alipay were the mainstream.

I tried to withdraw cash and searched for an ATM around the station for about two hours, but I couldn’t find one and couldn’t withdraw any money. I felt that it was difficult for foreigners to immediately switch to online payment when they cannot withdraw cash.

I am used to life in the Philippines, so I thought I could get by without any trouble in other countries, but I was very wrong. This business trip gave me valuable experiences that I wouldn’t have known without actually going there.
