1. Thick Plastic Bags for Claim Prevention
This is a success story of G Company, a measuring instrument manufacturer.
G Company was previously using general-purpose thin plastic bags, like those sold at home centers, to package their products.
However, due to the thinness of the film, the corners of the products would catch on the film, causing the bag to tear, which resulted in complaints.
Therefore, we proposed to G Company that they change to a plastic bag with a film thickness of 0.1 mm.
Generally, a thickness of 0.1 mm is considered quite thick, so it is rarely sold commercially.
For us, this was a custom-made proposal, and we took this opportunity to suggest the optimal dimensions for the plastic bag to match the product size.
After the change, G Company reported that there have been no complaints and products are being shipped smoothly.
It is truly regrettable and wasteful when a product itself has no issues, but complaints arise due to inadequate packaging materials.
It is important to adopt optimal packaging materials to prevent complaints.

2. Life in the Philippines Diary
This month, I would like to talk about diving in Coron Island, Philippines.
I recently went on a diving trip to Coron Island.
Coron Island is home to several Japanese warships sunk by the U.S. military during World War II. This time, I dived to the “Kogyo Maru,” a cargo ship that sank there.
When I dived down, the inside of the ship was extremely dark, like a cave. The scenery was like something out of a movie, stimulating my sense of adventure and making me very excited.
The sunken ship is 129 meters long and lies on its side, so once inside, I had no idea where I was. If you get separated from your group inside, you’ll get lost and panic for sure.
Inside the ship, I saw remnants of the engine room and materials like bricks with names engraved on them, which made me feel the history.
Other than that, it was too dark inside and the ship was deteriorated, so I couldn’t tell what was what.
Despite the excitement and fear, it was a valuable experience to see a Japanese shipwreck overseas.
The next day, I went to see a dugong. Dugongs are rare animals and are designated as an endangered species.
My actual impressions of seeing it were: “It only does the same thing” and “It’s big and cute.”
What kind of behavior is it? It eats seaweed at a depth of 10 meters. It surfaces every few minutes to breathe. It was repeating this behavior over and over again.
Despite its large and heavy body, it swims swiftly using its mermaid-like tail. I was very healed by seeing the dugong eating seaweed up close.
Unlike the shipwreck the day before, I was able to enjoy a peaceful dive in shallow water.
The weather was good for both days, the sea was beautiful, and I had a fulfilling diving experience.
Coron Island is a recommended place for those who want to dive and experience the beautiful sea and nature. Please visit it sometime.
